Abstract

One of the biggest challenges faced in agriculture is low nitrogen efficiency (<40%). This study investigates the effect of urea and nano urea on the growth and yield of crops at varying concentrations. Nano fertilizers also called smart fertilizers, have gained yield due to their potential to increase crop yield and environmental impacts. Nano-urea also improves nitrogen use efficiency and reduction in leaching losses. It can be toxic due to its high reactive nature and the initial cost is high compared to conventional urea. Single super phosphate (SSP) and muriate of potash (MOP) are used for phosphorus and potassium nutrients respectively. The result is estimated that nano urea significantly enhances plant height, chlorophyll content, germination rate and fruit yield compared to urea and control treatments
