The present research paper undertakes a detailed analysis of the folk songs of the Ahirwal region of Haryana, focusing on the conflict, transition, and cultural hybridity arising between traditional and modern values. Through these folk songs, a vivid portrayal emerges of far-reaching social transformations: the mechanization of agrarian life, the disintegration of the joint family system, the replacement of brotherhood with selfishness, the journey of women from traditional suffering to modern rebellion, the pervasive influence of fashion and globalization, and the erosion of ethical values – all depicted with sharp satire. This study establishes that the folk songs of Ahirwal are not merely a means of entertainment; rather, they serve as living documents of social change and powerful instruments for the preservation and awakening of cultural consciousness.
