Patriarchy literally means the dominance of the father in a male-dominated family. It is a social and ideological construct that considers men superior to women. Patriarchy is divided according to gender among other factors in society, and this gender difference legitimises inequality and dominance. Patriarchy represents a power in social structures that is inclined towards men, in other words, both the family and property are ruled by men and mainly this system establishes men as the dominant power. This research paper focuses on Dalit patriarchy in which various dimensions of patriarchy have been discussed. Through this research paper, an attempt will be made to see the meaning and definition of patriarchy, the nature of patriarchy in India, patriarchy among Dalit castes and along with this, what is the nature of patriarchy in the autobiographies written by Dalit women? on the basis of primary and secondary sources.
