A Study on the Correlation of Mental Imagery and Scientific Interest among Higher Secondary School Students of Kishtwar District

Abstract

Mental imagery is a collection of images in mind towards the science/scientific interest and scientific interest implies the urge to know about scientific activities. In present paper, it has been focused on the correlation between mental imagery and scientific interest and their relationship among higher secondary school students. For this purpose, the sample has been taken from 300 (163 Boys & 137 Girls) higher secondary school students (XI & XII class) of district Kishtwar. To main objectives of the study are to compute the difference and relationship of mental imagery and scientific interest among the boys and girls of secondary school students. To test the hypotheses, Critical-Ratio and Pearson's Product Moment method had been applied. The results of the study revealed that there was a significant difference in scientific interest among the boys and girls and a positive relationship between their mental imagery and scientific interest means if the mental imagery is high in a child his/her scientific interest will also be high but there was no significant difference in mental imagery and scientific interest between the boys and girls of higher secondary schools of Kishtwar district. The results of the study will be helpful for the stakeholders like policy-makers, teachers, parents, administrators, parents, and students.
