This research paper explores the themes of love for nature and environmental awareness in post
independence Hindi dramas, investigating how playwrights from this era engaged with ecological
concerns and human relationships with the natural world. By analyzing key works from prominent
Hindi dramatists, the study examines how environmental themes are interwoven into narratives,
characters, and symbols, reflecting broader socio-political changes and evolving environmental
consciousness in post-independence India. The paper highlights the role of traditional Indian values
in shaping attitudes toward nature, demonstrating how dramatists use cultural motifs to underscore
the interconnectedness of humanity and the environment. Through an exploration of thematic
elements, character dynamics, and symbolic language, this paper illustrates how Hindi dramas not
only serve as literary reflections of the environmental issues of their time but also act as powerful
vehicles for fostering ecological awareness and inspiring a love for nature. The study concludes by
discussing the impact of these dramatic works on the social consciousness of their audiences,
reinforcing the idea that literature has the potential to cultivate an environmentally sensitive society
in India.
